Charles Henderson’s Lady Trojans to Compete at Final Four

Charles Henderson High School fans are rallying around the lady trojans as they head to the final four in Birmingham.

“I don’t miss these games and we’re so excited. We’ll take a big contingent of Trojan fans and we’re all excited. We shake out pom poms all the time,” says Lynn Melton.

In the last 4 years, the team has gone to state 3 times. Student’s say this season has been nothing short of great.

“They work really hard and I think they deserve it more than anybody in the state,” says Sidney Armstrong.

For Tara Davenport, Wednesday’s game is something she has waited for quite some time.

“I’m so nervous, I don’t think I’ve slept much. I toss and turn and even this morning I was so excited to wear my hat because I knew it was hat day and I was ready to put on this Trojan hat,” says Davenport.

Students say they believe the team’s bond keeps the strong on the court.

“It’s something special. The team chemistry they have is unlike-I mean you don’t really see that a lot especially in high school teams,” says Will Reeves.

“Really excited to see how they work together and how they bond. They keep god first in everything they do and I think that stands out to people around you,” says Alyssa English.

That’s why they see a state win in the near future.

Troy city schools will dismiss at noon tomorrow to allow students and parents enough time to make it the game. The Lady Trojans are set to play at 6 pm at the BJCC Arena.
