Sanders Talks Money at Jubilee Press Conference

From the West Alabama Newsroom–

State Senator Hank Sanders held a press conference to promote this year’s Bridge Crossing Jubilee. He also talked about the struggle to keep the event going.

“This event doesn’t pay for itself,” said Sanders.

“I have given tens of thousands of dollars personally to help it keep going on. I’ve given thousands and thousands of hours to help build this. I have never benefited personally whatsoever,” he said.

The Jubilee kicks off Thursday night with a mass meeting at Tabernacle Baptist Church where renown civil rights attorney Fred Gray will be the guest speaker.

Sanders says Congresswoman Maxine Waters, the Rev. Jesse Jackson and Congresswoman Barbara Lee are some of the other notables who will be attending the Jubilee this year.

A dispute over city fees has caused some changes to the event this year.

The Jubilee features around 40 separate events highlighted by the Bridge Crossing reenactment.
