Humane Society.
Lea Turbert with the Humane Society says she always dreamed of being able to advertise the animals like this, but knew the shelter didn’t have the budget. That’s when the shelter recieved this donation.
“Seeing billboards driving by and just seeing that picture that pops, that everyone has already seen it’s only been up two weeks,” she says. “Everyone has been commenting on it, saying ‘I saw your billboards, I saw your billboards!'”
Neil Bell is the owner of New South Outdoor, the billboard company. Animal shelters hold a special place in Bell’s heart; he’s adopted several homeless animals into his family. Knowing how small shelters’ budgets can be led him to give back.
“We tend to have empty space now and again, and I would much rather give it to a worthy cause, especially ones that don’t have the budget to spend money on advertising traditionally,” he says. “I’d rather give it to them than just be running ‘available’ with a phone number. That time and space is worth a lot to them. And I’m happy to give it away.”
Bell runs campaigns like this in other areas, like Lee County, but this is the first time he’s partnered with the Montgomery Humane Society.
Shelter officials have the ability to change the pictures of the animals whenever they need to. This ensures every cat or dog that needs a home has a better chance of finding one.
“We really thank him from the bottom of our hearts and from the bottom of all these homeless animals,” Turbert says.
