Union Springs police are searching for answers after 32-year-old Anthony Vaughn was shot in the parking lot of this McDonald’s on East Conecuh Avenue.
“Upon arrival we discovered that there was a black male subject that had been shot in the parking lot of McDonalds,” says Union Springs Police Chief Danny Jackson.
Authorities identified former Union Springs city employee, 44-year-old Corry Tarver, as the suspect. At the time of the shooting, Tarver was employed in the janitorial department for the city.
“He was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder,” says Jackson.
Authorities say the shooting involving Vaughn and Tarver is still under investigation. They believe the incident happened after a verbal and physical altercation between the two of them.
Vaughn is in critical condition, after suffering a single gun shot wound in the chest.
“The subject was life-flighted to baptist south with life-threatening injuries,” says Jackson.
Tarver is now out on bond as the investigation continues.
Police say more charges could be filed against Tarver, depending on the condition of the victim.
