Sunday Night Marks Start of Rosh Hashana

Sunday night marks the start of Rosh Hashana, the Jewish new year, and millions of Jewish people gathered around the world to celebrate – including right here in Montgomery.

The group “Re-Digging the Wells Alabama” held a weekend-long event to celebrate the start of the new year. Today they hosted a Procession of Prase, with around 75 people walking from the Court Square Fountain up Dexter Avenue. After the procession, they held a prayer service at the steps of the capital building to mark the start of Rosh Hashana.

The Jewish holy days will continue until sundown on Tuesday, September 15th.
