Austin police say a gunman fired more than 100 rounds at the Mexican Consulate, city police headquarters, and other downtown buildings before he was killed.

Austin’s Police Chief say a Police Chief Sergeant shot at the 50 year old gunman earlier this morning outside of the police station but It’s not clear this afternoon if police fatally shot the suspect or if he took his own life.

Authorities responding to the shootings had to act cautiously because of suspicions that the man’s car and a vest he was wearing might be rigged to explode. Officers later found there were no explosives.
