Off-Duty Police Officer Killed in Wreck in Dothan

Officials say an off-duty Dothan police officer is dead after an early morning wreck in southeast Alabama.

State troopers are investigating following a one-vehicle crash that killed 29-year-old Brandon Thompson of Rehobeth.

Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd says the off-duty officer was driving a pickup truck when it ran off a road in Dothan about 3 a.m. Friday and struck a sign before slamming into a tree.

Thompson was pronounced dead at a hospital in Dothan. A woman in the truck was injured.
