The temperatures are only going to get even colder throughout the week, but there’s a message The agencies we spoke with want to send out is to plan ahead and take shelter as soon as possible.

The Salvation Army says they had about 10 people come in last night because of the cold. That brought their capacity up to 65 people. Officials say they’re expecting double that amount tonight and more throughout this week. Social services director Jason Davis says they won’t deny anyone who needs a warm place to stay.

“You’re talking about a lot of times it’s life or death so we’ve had a couple of people call us already this morning wanting to know if it’s going to be a cold night tonight. If our night shelter is going to be open so we just want to encourage everyone who is in need of a shelter to get out of the cold and call us and let us know you’re coming by or come by,” Said Davis.

You can check in at the Salvation Army anytime between 4:30 and 6 PM located on Maxwell Boulevard. They’re warming station plans to open tomorrow between 8 AM and 4 PM for anyone.
