Wetumpka Police Department Getting Body Cameras

The Wetumpka Police Department is getting body cameras for its officers.
The city council approved to order 22 body cameras similar to these from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. City leaders say they will cost about 20-thousand dollars.
There is no set date on when they will start using them, but city leaders hope the cameras will keep both officers and citizens accountable.
“this was something the coouncil saw the need for this and the police department presented it with what’s going on in the country we feel like our officers needed this and should be protected for our own satisfaction to know what goes on in traffic stops and other times that police are involved.” says Wetumpka-Jerry Wills.
