Crimestoppers Releases 2014 Statistics

Central Alabama Crimestoppers has released their annual report. So just how many criminals did they help take off the street? And how much money did they pay off in rewards? Between 17 agencies Crimestoppers helped in 2014, there were… 191 arrests. 463 charges filed. 720 tips. $11,420 reward payout. In 2013, there were… 301 arrests. 757 charges filed. 897 tips. Reward payout of $17,650. So why were 2014’s numbers lower? “Because if we were to show 10 people that are wanted for a crime, we would probably get 7 arrests out of those 10 and when we get as person arrested, a lot of these people were asking for their reward so we actually had to decrease the amount of things we were showing the the public,” Said Tony Garrett with Crimestoppers. Garrett also says with the public’s help with tips and donations, you could see more criminals behind bars in 2015. If you’d like to donate to Crimestoppers. go to http://www.215stop.org
