Hundreds Celebrate Local Police in Inaugural Blue Light Prayer Vigil

Saturday, September 19th is National Thank a Police Officer Day, and hundreds of people in Montgomery attended the inaugural Blue Light Prayer Vigil.
“I hope the officers see that they have the community’s support,” says Christina Thornton, who hosted the event. “[The] RSA towers will be blue throughout the weekend, Eastchase have their fountain blue. The tunnell down at the Riverfront, everybody is blue. We are showing that loyalty we have throughout the city.”
The event was hosted by the Montgomery Police Department Wives Association and Lady Law Enforcement Officers Support Group. Those in attended prayed and read poems in front of the Police Memorial on the Capitol Grounds.Â
The event was sponsored by the local Fraternal Order of Police Officers.
