People Flock to see “Selma” in Selma

People are not only going to see the movie “Selma”, some are making the point to see “Selma” in the city of Selma. The Selma Walton Theater has seen patrons from all over the world since the movie debuted on January 9th. People from as far as Germany and even Australia have made the journey to see the film in the historic town. So far, theater management says nearly 3,000 people have lined up outside the Walton Theater to see the movie.

“They could go somewhere else, but they’ve chosen to come to Selma,” says Mayor George Evans. “Oh, we appreciate that.”

The cast and crew of the movie “Selma”, including Oprah Winfrey, will be in Selma Sunday for a day-long event to celebrate the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. Festivities including a Q&A with the film’s cast and crew, a prayer vigil at Selma’s city hall, and a commemorative march along the Edmund Pettus bridge led by the filmmakers.
