Alabama is looking at it’s lowest unemployment rate in over 6 years.

December’s unemployment rate came in at 5.7 percent. Labor Commissioner Fitzgerald Washington says the state saw the highest job growth since 2007 last year.

Governor Bentley pledged to not take a salary until we reach 5.2 percent unemployment, so he’s getting close.

Some of the highest rates are in our area, including Wilcox at 12.5 percent, Bullock at 10.7 percent and Dallas at 10.1 percent.
