It’s been in the works for a while. Now, thanks to a million dollar federal grant, the process of improving Health Services Inc. on Montgomery’s south side can begin.
The facility will soon be moving to the One Center, also known as the Old Montgomery Mall.
CEO Bernell Mapp says there are two reasons they are looking forward to the new site.
“It provides an opportunity to have a good, upgraded center in that side of town. Our current center is old and has some facility problems. We want to have the best environment for an employees, but most of all, our patients,” said Mapp.
The Southside Family Health Center will close its doors once the facility in the One Center is complete.
Mapp says he is looking forward to serving at this location where they will be able to offer extended services.
“We’re excited about this project because I think in the next year we’re going to see the Montgomery Mall come back to life in a different way. That side of town taking on a whole different perspective. I think the city has done a great job of starting with giving an anchor with the PD/ FD there. So far that quarter of Montgomery we’re anxious to be a part of that,” said Mapp.
The project is expected to be complete in 9-12 months.
