Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange delivered his state of the city address last night. And his opponent in the upcoming election – Artur Davis – is speaking out about it.

Strange highlighted Montgomery’s  unemployment rate going down, revenues going up, and the awards the city has won including Best Historic City and All American City.

But Artur Davis says he was not impressed.

He said he wants to focus on improving education, poverty and crime rates.
Davis also says he would get rid of the public safety director’s office

“you can’t have two people telling the chief what to do. I want the chief to report to me and the community as mayor. I don’t want the chief to have to answer to a chief who is superimposed above him.” Says Davis.

The Mayoral Election will take place August 25th.
