Ala. Company Plans to Contest Federal Labor Fines

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) – An Auburn, Ala. company plans to contest federal labor citations and fees.
Department of Labor officials announced in October that SCA Inc. and Liberty Staffing would be fined $158,000 for safety violations at an auto parts manufacturing plant. The Opelika-Auburn News reports that the Liberty Staffing’s risk manager says the company is investigating those violations.
Liberty Staffing provides about 115 employees to SCA.
Risk manager John Cottrell says the company will take action to resolve any “substantiated” issues.
Federal officials have said workers were at risk of electrocution, having hands or limbs disabled or amputated by machine parts or dangerous falls.
