Local talent to be on display this weekend at the Davis Theatre
The talent show will be held Sunday, April 19 at the Davis Theatre in downtown Montgomery.
Abby Payne
Abby Payne is an News Producer/Reporter for WAKA Action 8 News. She also appears on the anchor desk regularly.
Abby was born and raised in the small town of Moundville, 20 minutes south of Tuscaloosa. Despite being so close to the home of the Crimson Tide, Abby transferred to Auburn University where she graduated with her degree in Journalism.
During her last semester of college, Abby interned with WAKA and was hired right after graduation. She joined Action 8 News in January of 2025 as a producer and has since filled other roles like anchor and reporter. She mostly anchors Action 8 News at 9:00 weeknights on the CW Montgomery.
When she isn’t working, she likes discovering new music, watching horror movies and taking trips with family and friends. Although she earned her degree from Auburn, Abby is a huge Alabama fan and enjoys cheering on the Crimson Tide.
