Estee Morrison is the weekend anchor for Action 8 News. She rejoined the WAKA news team in 2022.
Estee is proud to say she was born and raised in Montgomery. She started her news career at WAKA in the Production Department and later became the producer of WAKA’s first 5PM newscast more than 20 years ago.
Eventually, Estee started reporting and discovered her passion for covering politics and court cases around Central Alabama. She was part of the Governor’s press corps during the administrations of Gov. Don Siegelman and Gov. Bob Riley. Estee also covered the Alabama Legislature as well.
In addition, she started the “Positively Alabama” weekly series which highlighted artists, businesses and people who made unique contributions throughout our state. Two of Estee’s favorite stories during this time included a trip to South Korea to tour Hyundai plants in the fall of 2004 before the opening of Montgomery’s Hyundai plant and driving a hovercraft down the Coosa River.
Estee then left WAKA to be a stay-at-home mom for more than 15 years, but rejoined the news team as her children became older.
She attended college at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia.
