New video shows a Colorado police officer using his pistol to beat a man he was trying to arrest, choking him and threatening to kill him. The body camera footage was released Tuesday of the arrest in the Denver suburb of Aurora. The Police Department has been plagued by allegations of misconduct in recent years, including the 2019 death of Elijah McClain. One officer has been arrested on assault allegations, while another officer accused of failing to stop her colleague as required by a new law. Both officers have turned themselves in. Police Chief Vanessa Wilson called the arrest Friday a “very despicable act.”
