“I am deeply indebted to Alabama State,” Freda Freeman-Jackson said. “This is where I played basketball, had an opportunity to be the assistant coach, then being able to be at one program for 27 years—it is unbelievable.”
After 27 years at the helm for the Hornets, Freda Freeman-Jackson has announced her plans to retire. During her time leading the program she has tallied 373 wins.
The Auburn Tigers defeats Alabama State 83-63 to punch their ticket into the round of 34 where they will face the Creighton Bluejays. The Hornets will finish their season with a 20-16 record.
This is Alabama State’s first NCAA tournament win.
