German Marquez scattered four hits over seven scoreless innings, Ryan McMahon homered twice and drove in three runs, and the Colorado Rockies beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-1. Raimel Tapia also homered, and C.J. Cron had two hits and two RBIs for the Rockies, who snapped a five-game losing streak that included two shutout losses at San Diego earlier this week. Josh Rojas’ sacrifice fly in the eighth inning off reliever Jordan Sheffield led to Arizona’s lone run.

Broncos promote Darren Mougey to player personnel director

The Denver Broncos have promoted Darren Mougey to Matt Russell’s former position as director of player personnel. The 36-year-old Mougey will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Broncos’ pro and college scouting departments. He’ll work with general manager George Paton on all player personnel decisions. Mougey is entering his 10th season in Denver. He was hired as a personnel intern by the Broncos in 2012.
