Broncos place Ja’Wuan James on non-football injury list

The Denver Broncos on Friday placed injured right tackle Ja’Wuan James on the non-football injury list. The procedural move opens up a spot on the 90-man roster but doesn’t commit the team to paying or not paying James. The Broncos aren’t obligated to pay James his $10 million salary because his injury occurred off-site. But they could choose to pay him a portion of his pay. James’ injury has been a flashpoint in the growing acrimony between the NFL and the players union. Players on 20 teams are boycotting voluntary offseason workouts this spring.
