Paton solid in 1st draft in Denver but no QB could haunt him

Broncos general manager George Paton put together a solid inaugural draft class in Denver. But his skirting of a quarterback in Round 1 could come back to haunt him. Paton instead selected the player many consider the best defender in the class: Alabama cornerback Patrick Surtain II. Paton had a terrific Day 2 of the draft highlighted by his selection of bruising running back Javonte Williams of North Carolina. For now, his QB in 2021 will either be Teddy Bridgewater or Drew Lock. Plenty of fans are pining for the Packers to send disgruntled superstar Aaron Rodgers to Denver instead.
