Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons has been franchise tagged for a second consecutive season. The sides are expected to work out a long-term deal, however, so that Simmons doesn’t play on the $13.7 million tag in 2021. Simmons played last year on the $11.4 million franchise tag after the pandemic stalled negotiations between teams and their franchise tagged players. General manager George Paton called the tag a procedural move that allows the team and Simmons’ agent to continue talks on a long-term deal.
