One Dead, One Critical: Montgomery Police Investigate Two Shootings Tuesday Night

Montgomery police are investigating two shootings that occurred Tuesday night. On Tuesday, June 29, around 5:30pm, police and fire medics responded to a call of a shooting in the 3600 block of Horseshoe Circle. At the scene, they found a man with a fatal gunshot wound. Later Tuesday night, around 11 pm, Montgomery police and fire medics responded to the area of Early Street and E.D. Nixon Avenue in reference to a call of a shooting. At the scene, they found a female juvenile suffering from a life threatening gunshot wound.

Suspect Named In Fort Deposit Cemetery Shooting

Investigators in Fort Deposit named a suspect in a shooting that happened during a burial service at a cemetery on June 26.  The Gipson family was saying last goodbyes to loved one, James Gipson, when a gunman opened fire at his funeral. One victim, Jerry Gipson, died and three others were injured.

Four People Shot, One Dead at Funeral in Ft. Deposit

The Ft. Deposit Police Department is investigating a shooting. The shooting occurred at a funeral at Meadow Wood Cemetery on Saturday, June 26. According to police, the shooter was removed from the funeral for disruptive behavior. He later got into a confrontation at the cemetery where he shot four people. Jerry Gibson died from his injuries in the shooting.

Rep. Bill Poole Announces He's Running for Speaker of the House

Rep. Bill Poole, R-Tuscaloosa, on Tuesday announced that he is running for Speaker of the House following Rep. Mac McCutcheon’s announcement that he plans to retire at the end of his term in 2022. “I have spoken with Speaker McCutcheon to thank him for all that he has done and continues to do for the people of Alabama.  I have pledged to him my continued support during the next 18 months of his leadership of the State House of Representatives,” Rep. Poole said.
