Former ADOC Officer Trainee Sentenced to Over 11 Years for Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine

United States Attorney Sean P. Costello of the Southern District of Alabama announced that Terrence Dramon Tolbert, 40, of Brewton, was sentenced on June 29, to 135 months’ imprisonment for his possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine on February 24, 2020. In January of 2021, Tolbert pled guilty to the charge in federal court in Mobile.

The Alabama Department of Corrections is hiring a new category of corrections officer as the state tries to address a prison staffing shortage. Authorities say three Alabama correctional officers who worked at two different prisons have been arrested on corruption charges. The Department of Corrections says two officers from the Ventress Correctional Facility in Clayton are charged with using their jobs for personal gain.
