Suspects in Two Lowndes County Bank Robberies Sentenced in Federal Court

Two men convicted of robbing two Lowndes County banks have been sentenced. On Thursday, July 1, a judge sentenced Bennie Ray Carpenter, Jr., 42, of Town Creek, to over 154 months (over 12 years). A day later, a judge sentenced Hunter Lee McPherson, 21, of Greenville, to 130 months (over 10 years).

Suspect Named In Fort Deposit Cemetery Shooting

Investigators in Fort Deposit named a suspect in a shooting that happened during a burial service at a cemetery on June 26. 

The Gipson family was saying last goodbyes to loved one, James Gipson, when a gunman opened fire at his funeral. One victim, Jerry Gipson, died and three others were injured.

An ex-convict is in jail for the murder of a Fort Deposit woman. The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office said Frank Henderson was arrested and charged with the murder of Jackie Henderson.
