Alabama State University is moving ahead with events to celebrate the 2021 Labor Day Classic, which is part of the HBCU Classic Weekend. Earlier this week, the City of Montgomery canceled HBCU Classic Weekend events that were to be held at city facilities.
The surge in COVID-19 cases in Alabama is causing a shortage of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds statewide. It is also leading to many local events being cancelled.
The City of Montgomery has announced that due to the spike in COVID-19 cases, all events and festivities at city facilities for the HBCU Classic Weekend will be canceled. This will not affect the football games.
