Members of the Muscogee Creek Nation returned to Tallapoosa County for a memorial service on the 210th anniversary of Horseshoe Bend. The battle was the single bloodiest day of conflict for Native Americans with U.S. troops.

A 14-year-old Horseshoe Bend School student was found in possession of a handgun at the school. As a result of the investigation, the juvenile has been charged with making terrorist threats and carrying a concealed weapon during school activities.
