Camp Conquest Serving As Kids Summer Camp For Burn Survivors

Camp Conquest is a kid’s summer camp for burn survivors, where campers meet with others who have been through similar experiences.

The camp has been responding to the needs of pediatric burn survivors for over 20 years. Each summer, they host a week long experience at Children’s Harbor on Lake Martin. Campers spend their days boating, swimming, and meeting other survivors. Alabama Fire Marshals from across the state volunteer as camp counselors. 

Body of Drowning Victim Recovered in Lake Martin near Equality

 Coosa County Authorities have recovered the body of a drowning  victim at Lake Martin. Authorities say 20 year old Vazquez Saavedra of Mississippi was the victim. Sheriff Howell said dispatch received the call just after 1:00PM Thursday. The ALEA Marine Patrol has confirmed to Alabama News Network that a man has drowned at Lake Martin. Lt. Mark Fuller says a 24-year-old man went under and never resurfaced around 7 o’clock last night.
