Despite the absence of two board members, the board unanimously approved contracts for Dr. Zickeyous Byrd and interim Chief School Financial Officer Pamela Watkins.

More than 300 people came to the town hall meeting Tuesday evening, and at least 120 questions had previously been submitted online by concerned citizens.
The city council took up the veto in its meeting earlier this week, but the effort to overturn it failed by one vote.
The city council voted 7-2 to allow four lots on Carter Hill Road to be rezoned on June 18, but the mayor vetoed it. The city council failed to override the veto Tuesday night, so a $3.8 million dollar student housing development project will not go forward.
Former Police Chief Darryl Albert is one of 32 people who have applied to be the next chief of police for the Austin Police Department.
According to statistics obtained by Action 8 News, robberies at Montgomery businesses are up a whopping 180% from 2023, and the number of individuals who have been robbed has almost doubled from 81 in 2023 to 150 in 2024.
