The recent increase in crime in Montgomery now has city officials considering a curfew.
The city council took up the veto in its meeting earlier this week, but the effort to overturn it failed by one vote.
The city council voted 7-2 to allow four lots on Carter Hill Road to be rezoned on June 18, but the mayor vetoed it. The city council failed to override the veto Tuesday night, so a $3.8 million dollar student housing development project will not go forward.
Continued violence across Montgomery – including 3 separate shootings on Monday that killed a man and injured 2 others – was foremost on the minds of all who attended.
The reward is now $25,000 to help solve a triple homicide at Tienda Los Hermanos, a grocery store on Troy Highway in Montgomery.
Once again, crime was the main topic that Montgomery residents packed city hall to talk about Tuesday night.
