Montgomery Man Not Wearing Seat Belt Dies in Single Vehicle Crash
On Sunday, July 25, around 1:50 a.m., Jason Lemart Wright, 39, died when the 2004 Ford Expedition driven by Cedric Lamar Thomas Sr., 44, left the roadway, struck a guard rail before going airborne and struck a tree. Medics transported Wright to a local hospital for treatment, where he later died.
New Event Center Coming Soon to Eastern Boulevard
One new business that is setting up shop on Eastern Boulevard is a new event center. The venue will be available for all types of events from weddings to birthdays, tea parties and even holiday events. The event space is called A.L.O.E (Another Level of Excellence) and it is projected to begin holding events in the coming months.

The city’s Interim Police Chief shared the concerns with the city leaders at Tuesday night’s council meeting. TEMPE, Ariz. | The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the 2021 Division I Women ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams this week, with Alabama State well represented with eight individuals and a team award.Alabama State was one of three teams from the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) to earn the All-Academic Team distinction, while the Hornets also had eight student-athletes earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors.

ASU Football: SWAC Media Days to be held Tuesday in Birmingham and aired on ESPN3
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) will host its annual SWAC Football Media on Tuesday, July 20 at 10:00 am CST at the Sheraton-Birmingham. The event will be streamed live on ESPN3 with college football commentators Tiffany Greene and Jay Walker teaming up to host the event.
