U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has overridden a plea agreement reached earlier this week for the accused mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and two other defendants, reinstating them as death-penalty cases.
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, accused as the mastermind of al-Qaida’s Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the U.S., has agreed to plead guilty, the Defense Department said.
Following her guilty plea, Dantzler faces a potential sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison, plus an order of restitution to her victims.
Former Lee County District Attorney Brandon Hughes has been ordered to serve his 10-month sentence in the Lee County Detention Facility in Opelika, according to the Alabama Attorney General’s Office.
