No. 4 Auburn Just Another Big Game For No. 1 ‘Bama

AJ McCarron and Alabama aren’t getting swept up in the rampant hype surrounding the Iron Bowl.

The top-ranked Crimson Tide’s quarterback said Monday he’s played in two straight national championship games “so it’s just another game.” The rest of the state would disagree about that characterization of Saturday’s visit to No. 4 Auburn.

The winner moves on to the league championship game. For Alabama, two wins would guarantee a shot at a third straight national title.

But the Tide has already navigated much-hyped games with Texas A&M and LSU and is 16-4 against top 10 teams over the past six seasons.

Tide coach Nick Saban says no such high stakes are needed.

Saban says, “Forget anything else about this, this is the Alabama-Auburn game. It’s the Iron Bowl.”
