1 dead, State Employee Injured In Crash On US Highway 29

 A crash in Macon County leaves one man dead and another in the hospital. It happened around 10 a.m. Thursday and involved a state emergency management agency employee. 

 
The two cars crashed on U.S. Highway 29 about six miles south of Tuskegee. Troopers say a Tahoe driven by a state EMA worker collided with a pick up truck. 
 
The driver of the pickup was killed and the EMA employee was taken to a hospital. Family and friends said the man killed is Walter Williams. They say the accident happened right in front of his home.
 
Jasmine Streeter, the granddaughter of the victim said, “When you are on the road be careful, watch out for yourself and watch out for others…he was real nice, a kind loving hearted person.”
 
The state EMA released a statement saying- “An EMA employee was involved in an auto accident today. We would like to extend our heartfelt prayers and sympathies to all the families of those involved in this tragic accident. The accident is being investigated by the Department of Public Safety.”
