57th Annual SLE Rodeo Kicks Off in Montgomery

It’s time to rodeo! The Southeastern Livestock Exposition Rodeo is underway and we’re told even better competition this year after switching back to the PRCA league.

“The stock contractor brings the livestock and he is noted for more animals to go to the finals in Las Vegas then any other contractor since the livestock makes half the score the top cowboys follow those good bucking horses and bulls,” said SLE executive director Billy Powell.

These cowboys and cowgirls are competing for about 55,000 dollars and its bringing in big names.

“Richie Champion, won the bareback riding he won $1,100,000 in 16 seconds worth of work and will be competing tonight in the bareback riding,” said World Champion Bull rider and commentator Donnie Gay.

Richie Champion did ride and right now he’s the one to beat.

Fans can also see champion calf ropers like Seth Rodriguez.

“Train for it. Work for it all your life just to be able to come to these deals and beat these guys you gotta be dedicated you know,” said Rodriguez.

And champion bull riders who are dedicated to the cause.

Trent cormier  says, “Bunch of broken bones, broken vertebrae, cheeks, nose, bunch of ribs, leg, arm. Is it still worth it? Absolutely.”

The SLE Rodeo runs through Saturday.
