Town Halls About New Voting Law

Pike County Probate Judge Wes Allen is trying to clear up any confusion about the new Alabama voting law.Â
Â
Starting with the June 3 primary, voters in Alabama must have a specific type of photo identification to vote.Â
Â
Judge Allen is holding town halls, free to the public, to explain the new law and answer any questions.Â
Â
The remaining town hall meetings will be held at the Nutrition Center in Troy, 498 E. Walnut St., Wednesday March 19 at 10 a.m. And Monday, March 24 at 10:30 a.m. at the Goshen Senior Center, 535 Montgomery St.Â
Â
“Just want to make sure that everyone knows if they do not have any type of valid identification, they can receive a free voter ID card from the Pike County board of registrars office or the secretary of state’s office,” Probate Judge Wes Allen said.Â
Â
A voter can use any of the following forms of photo id at the polls- valid driver’s license, non-driver id, Alabama photo voter id, state issued id, federal issued id, US passport, employee id from federal/state/county/municipal government/ entity of the state, student/employee id from state university or college, military id, tribal id.Â
