Elmore County Boy Battling Rare Illness Gets “Magic Moment” Wish Granted

A 6-year-old Electic boy gets a big surprise as his “Magic Moment” is revealed.
Houston Sides looks to be a normal 6-year-old boy.
But after being diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, his life has been anything but normal.
That’s where the non-profit organization Magic Moments comes in.
Ronnie Wright/ Magic Moments “When a family has gone through a lot of difficult times with illnesses and stuff, we try to give them that one magic moment that can make all that go away,” said Magic Moment “Maker”, Ronnie Wright.
Wednesday evening family and friends gathered at the Kicking Chicken restaurant in Eclectic for a special announcement from a video featuring Disney characters at the Magic Kingdom.
Big sister Courtney was the first to figure it out.
“We’re going to Disney World!!” said 8-year-old Courtney Sides.
The Sides family will be taking a 7 day all expense paid trip to Disney World.
While Houston is a little shy with all the attention, his parents are overwhelmed with gratitude.
“So grateful for all your prayers.. really excited about this trip,” said Houston’s mom, Kim.
Magic Moments grants wishes to children with life threatening illnesses in Alabama. The organization has granted 4200 wishes since 1984.
