Hayneville Police Chief Suspended

     The Hayneville Police Chief is suspended for trying to arrest a school official at a school board meeting.

    Mayor Kelvin Lawrence says Police Chief Kelvin Mitchell has been suspended for a week without pay.
    He says Mitchell was suspended for insubordination.
    Lawrence says Mitchell tried to arrest Lowndes County School superintendent Daniel Boyd.
    A recent guilty plea by a former middle school employee to a charge of enticing a child for immoral purposes — is blamed for the incident — and has residents upset.
     Mayor Lawrence says Mitchell’s suspension will be addressed at Monday nights city council meeting.
