Chase Corner Development Changes in Montgomery

A new development off Taylor Road in Montgomery is taking longer than expected.
The area was supposed to be a new home for restaurants in town, but it looks like only a few are coming.
The original plan showed six different restaurants, including a Full Moon Barbecue as well as a Carraba’s and Jimmy John’s. The latest rendering shows just a Buffalo Wild Wings and an Outback, with a Jared Jewelers as well.
Larry Cornwell, who lives in the neighborhood just behind the development, says that even though development has been slow, he’s been happy working with Aronov which is developing the property.
“They’ve gone out of their way to keep us informed. They invite us to meetings with them at the Aronov building on Eastern Blvd.,” said Cornwell.
One of the biggest changes will be expanding Taylor Road to help ease the traffic.
“They will be putting in two turning lanes, two right hand turning lanes coming south on taylor road. There will also be a concrete barrier of sorts to sort the traffic out between turning into Eastchase and traffic turning into Chase Corner,” said Cornwell.
Some people in town think that extra lanes will be enough help and worth it to bring more development to town.
“I think it’s good for the community. It will help create more jobs for the construction industry and for the retail companies coming there. I think it’s good for our community,” said Montgomery resident Dejuan Gunn.
The first step of the project that we should see soon will help keep the homes separate from all of the construction as the buildings start going up.
“They want to present to the homeowners a plan to upgrade the 50 foot buffer zone, which right now is substantially built with trees. But they want to clear it out to put their own plantings in there to give us a very clear visible barrier,” said Cornwell.
He says he expects construction to start in the beginning of May
