Lawsuit Filed in Alex City Shooting Case
The family of a man shot and killed by an Alexander City Police officer last month has filed a wrongful death lawsuit.
21-year-old Emerson Crayton, Jr., was shot by the officer outside the Huddle House restaurant on U-S Highway 280.
Police say Crayton had tried to run over the officer.
Investigators say that’s when the officer fired the fatal shots.
The family says the officer acted in a negligent and malicious manner, saying Crayton never was a threat.
