Univ. of West Alabama Board Seek New President

The University of West Alabama board of trustees is set to discuss plans to move forward with its decision to find a new president for the school.

The board declined last month to extend President Richard Holland’s contract. Special investigators are looking into allegations that trustees and administrators tampered with an annual president evaluation process.

The Tuscaloosa News reports the board will consider a consulting agreement with the administrator hired to oversee the campus after Holland was put on paid leave at its meeting Tuesday. The board will also discuss the appointment of a committee to find a permanent replacement.

Holland’s supporters have been very vocal in their opposition to his removal. He released a statement last week asking for unity and urging his supporters to get past it.
