Ala Man Gets Sentenced to Life in Sex Abuse Case from ’90s

A judge in northwest Alabama has sentenced a man to life imprisonment in a sexual abuse case dating to the 1990s.

The judge imposed the sentence Wednesday on 43-year-old Joseph Lamont Thomas of Florence.

The TimesDaily reports Thomas was convicted in April of sexually abusing a 5-year-old girl in the 90s.

The victim is now an adult and came forward saying she didn’t want more children to be hurt. She testified that Thomas would place her in his lap and make her watch pornography on a computer.

The woman says she was later molested. A second victim testified during the trial that Thomas did things to her, also.

Thomas’ mother, Dorothy Thomas, calls him a good man and a good father. She says the family is standing by him.
