Officials Consider New Nature Park Near Tuscaloosa

Local officials are considering turning riverfront property near the Tuscaloosa airport into a new nature park.
The Tuscaloosa News reports the Tuscaloosa Park and Recreation Authority along with the city council neighboring Northport are discussing potential development of walking trails, a dog park and possibly even camping on the site.
The riverfront land was donated years ago to the Friend of Historic Northport organization. Opening a nature park would hinge on an investment from the city. Northport officials are discussing setting aside $100,000 to $300,000 for the project in the city’s 2015 budget.
If Northport officials agree to fund the park, it would be managed by the Tuscaloosa Park and Recreation Authority.
