Neighbors Blame Parents after Millbrook Toddler Hit and Killed by Car

People are talking after a toddler wandered onto a highway and was hit and killed Saturday night.

The curve along Deatsville Highway in Millbrook is a busy one.
And for those who saw the scene Saturday night, it was a tragic one.

 “They were trying to revive the baby and police and everything were out here,” said David Lawrence.

Xavier Stevenson  saw it to.

“Really, really sad. Then when I heard the baby had died… Ohh, broke my heart,” said Stevenson.

They say the toddler wandered up from the Rolling Hills apartments. And then wandered into the street.
A car hit the two year old boy.
He was taken to Children’s Hospital where he died Sunday morning.

Some neighbors blame the parents.

 “Yeah, they are at fault! That late at night, a 2 year old kid wandering out to the street and getting run over. Yeah, yeah wasn’t the guy that hit him’s fault,” said Frank Scott.

Police say alcohol was not involved and the driver said he saw the child but couldn’t stop in time.

“Foul play is foul play. Not watching the young’uns is not good,” said Scott.

Now many residents say they will keep a closer eye on their own kids.
 

“These kids here don’t play in the road. They strict about keeping everybody out of the road over here,” said Lawrence.

Millbrook Police Chief Johnson says no charges are expected to be filed.
