Calhoun Co. Group Using Grant to Fight Elder Abuse

Calhoun County officials say they’re planning to use a three-year $250,000 grant to address elder abuse.
Sheriff Larry Amerson tells the Anniston Star (http://bit.ly/1qN5JsL ) the grant from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Violence against Women will be used to train law enforcement officials to help identify and prevent elder abuse.
Local domestic violence victim’s advocacy group, 2nd Chance Inc. is the grant recipient and is organizing the training.
Piedmont police Sgt. Carolyn Durham says she thinks the training sessions will help county law enforcement agencies improve the way they communicate with each other to address the issue.
