Mixed Reaction to New SEC Schedule Changes

The SEC recently announced new football schedules.
Some long-time cross-divisional rival teams will now wait years to play each other.. unless they both make it to the SEC Championship Game.

We had got mixed reaction to the schedule from our Facebook fans:

Jay Young says, “I think change is good.”

Jeremy Murray says, “Being an Alabama fan, I will miss these match ups. Each team is normally near the top of the division and plays good football. I think this will hurt SEC football fans.”

Preston Hornsby says, “It’s not much of a change compared to the past several years. The expansion from 12-14 made it slightly worse.”

Kyle Burger says, “Every team should be on a rotating schedule, so every team will play each other about every four years.”

The SEC did decide to stay with 8 games instead of 9.
That will be 6 conference games and 2 non-conference games a year.

Some examples of what this means…
Bama and South Carolina won’t play until 2019.. so Nick Saban and Steve Spurrier might not ever face each other again.
After Alabama plays Florida this year, the two won’t meet again until 2021.
Auburn won’t play Florida until 2019.. and plays Tennessee in 2018 and 2025.
