Troy’s Emergency Response Team In Action

 A gunman kills 6 people wounding 13 in California.Â
Â
This tragedy reminds us of the importance of quick response by first responders.Â
Â
Here’s an up close look at Troy’s emergency response team in action, showcasing a new tactical rescue vehicle that could save lives. Helping the E-R-T is the Department of Public Safety’s air unit.Â
Â
Troy’s team’s been around for more than 20 years and is dispatched to at least a dozen times each year to high risk situations.Â
Â
Lt. Bryan Weed, with Troy Police said, “It’s a way of using less lethal force to try to end situations. And that is the ultimate goal is to find a peaceful end where nobody gets hurt, the suspect nor us. And that’s what we train for.Â
Â
Representative Alan Boothe helped get this vehicle to the streets of Troy and the best part, it costs not a penny. The city gets it’s for nothing and is only responsible for the maintenance.Â
