Two Hotly Contested Races in Autauga Co. Now Over

Alabama News Network was the only station to be there for the winning moments of two highly contested races in Autauga county.

It’s a nail biter at the Clyde Chambliss party, where calling his victory literally came down to just a few votes.

Chambliss was just able to take just over 50 percent of vote for state senate district 30.

The Pratville city councilman won the republican primary for incumbent Bryan Taylor’s senate seat.

He thanked all the voters and say once he takes a breath finances would be his priority would be finances as senator.

Clyde Chambliss said, “Every issue everything hat we do as a state every problem that we have it ties back to finances. So when we have a strong financial rooting then those other decisions are easier to make. “

Just down the road, it wasn’t nearly as close of race for autauga county sheriff.

Joe Sedinger won by thousands of votes. He’s no stranger to the sheriffs office. He’s been working there for decades and is right now the chief deputy. Current Sheriff Herbie Johnson is retiring after 23 years.

Joe Sedinger said, “Thank you thank you for everyone who came out and voted just thank you.”

Both Sedinger and Chambliss had no democratic opposition.

Senate district 30 covers all of Autauga County, parts of Elmore, Chilton, Coosa and Tallapoosa counties.
